Dick was always a joy to meet on social occasions which he obviously loved attending, interrupted only by having to attend to the dog outside in the car. Always an amusing anecdote or a witty comment shared with that distinctive and lilting voice of his, followed by a chuckle. Chuckle on, dear Dick.

I first met Dick on a KPMG training course. Dick had been drafted in at short notice to deliver someone else's slides. He was totally unphased and put us at ease making the rather dry material come alive by cracking jokes and adding amusing anecdotes. Dick was a very experienced consultant, we were brand new but he was the polar opposite of condescending.
As I got to know Dick better over the years as Kate's dad I enjoyed his kindness, consideration for others, warm and friendly manner and bonhomie at family gatherings. He was a true gentleman and I will miss him.
