I first met Dick on a KPMG training course. Dick had been drafted in at short notice to deliver someone else's slides. He was totally unphased and put us at ease making the rather dry material come alive by cracking jokes and adding amusing anecdotes. Dick was a very experienced consultant, we were brand new but he was the polar opposite of condescending. As I got to know Dick better over the years as Kate's dad I enjoyed his kindness, consideration for others, warm and friendly manner and bonhomie at family gatherings.
